■今現在、あなたは日本で何をしていますか？
I am a Ph.D. student at the Graduate school of Global Environmental Studies, Kyoto University.My major is in Environmental Management and my area of research looks at the value of Indigenous knowledge in Disaster Risk Reduction in the South Pacific region.
In addition to studying, I am an internship trainee at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research in Hiroshima until March 2023.
私は京都大学大学院地球環境学堂の博士課程に在籍しています。
専攻は環境マネジメントで、研究テーマは「南太平洋地域の災害リスク軽減における先住民族の知識の価値」です。また、2023年3月まで広島にある国連訓練調査研究所でインターンシップの研修生として働いています。
■過去、日本以外の国で、どんな学校に通い、どんな勉強をしましたか？
I completed my undergraduate degree at The University of Auckland in New Zealand, double majoring in Politics and International Relations, and Pacific Studies.
I continued with my studies at The University of Auckland and completed a postgraduate degree with Honours in Pacific Studies.In 2018, I came to Japan as a MEXT scholar and did my Master's in Inclusive Society and State at the Graduate school of International Development, Nagoya University.
ニュージーランドのオークランド大学では、政治学と国際関係学、そして太平洋研究を専攻し、学士号を取得しました。その後もオークランド大学で勉強を続け、大学院では太平洋研究を専攻し、優等学位を取得しました。2018年、文部科学省奨学生として来日し、名古屋大学大学院国際開発研究科でInclusive Society and Stateの修士課程を修了しました。
■過去、日本以外の国で仕事をした経験がありますか？
Before coming to Japan in 2018, I worked at Women in Business Development Inc. (WIBDI), a non-governmental organization in Samoa. The organization's mission is to strengthen village economies in Samoa through ways that honor indigenous customs, use traditional and modern technology, and promote fair trade.Through this opportunity, I was fortunate enough to assist families from rural communities in Samoa to earn an income with the resources they have around them. After I graduated from Kyoto University, I'd like to enhance my career in the financial industry further. I believe that my experienc+G2:J7e and my new knowledge will take me to the top.
2018年に来日する前は、サモアのNGOであるWomen in Business Development Inc.（WIBDI）に勤務していました。この組織のミッションは、先住民の習慣を尊重し、伝統的な技術と近代的な技術を使い、フェアトレードを推進する方法で、サモアの村落経済を強化することです。このような機会を通じて、私はサモアの農村に住む家族が身の回りの資源を使って収入を得られるよう、幸運にも支援することができました。京都大学を卒業した後は、金融業界でさらにキャリアを積みたいと考えています。これまでの経験と新しい知識が、私を頂点へと導いてくれると信じています。
■今後の目標
My future goal is to work in an intergovernmental organization, either in Japan or another country, where I can apply the skills and experiences that I have gained to further develop and strengthen Samoa's relations with other countries.
私の将来の目標は、日本または他の国の政府機関で働き、そこで得たスキルや経験を活かして、サモアと他の国との関係をさらに発展、強化させることです。
